Privacy Policy – Split It

1. Data controller

Split It is developed by Alex Moldovan. For any request regarding your data you can write to oneblackheartraven@gmail.com.

2. What data we process

• Account data: on first launch you are assigned an anonymous identifier. If you link a Google account, we process the name, email address and profile picture provided by Google.
• Content you create: group and participant names, expenses (description, amount, date, category), repayments and their notes, and the group currency. Group photos remain saved only on your device.
• Technical data: identifiers required for the service to work, handled by the Firebase infrastructure.

We do not collect payment data and we do not handle real money: amounts are used only to calculate who owes what to whom.

3. Why we process the data (legal basis)

• To provide the service and sync groups across your devices and among participants: performance of the contract (Art. 6.1.b GDPR).
• To keep your account and your data available over time: performance of the service / legitimate interest.

4. Who we share the data with

Data is stored on the Google Firebase infrastructure (Authentication and Cloud Firestore), provided by Google Ireland Ltd / Google LLC, acting as data processor. The data you enter in a shared group is visible to the other participants of that group. If you have linked a Google account, the other participants also see your Google profile name, shown next to the actions you take in the group (history and comments); your email address is never shown to anyone. We do not sell your data to third parties and we do not use it for advertising.

To convert expenses entered in a currency other than the group's, the app requests exchange rates from the public service frankfurter.app. Only the currency codes and the expense date are sent to that service: no personal data, no amounts and no group content leave your device in this request.

The app contains an optional invitation to buy the developer a coffee. If you tap it, your browser opens PayPal.me: from that point on PayPal's own privacy policy applies, and we receive no data about you. The app handles no payments and does not record whether you donated.

5. Retention and deletion

We keep your data for as long as you keep your account. You can delete your account and data at any time:

• from the app: Settings → “Delete account and data”;
• from the web: account deletion request page.

When you delete your account, we remove your profile and take you out of the shared groups; groups where you are the only member are deleted with all their expenses. This operation is irreversible.

6. Your rights

You have the right to access, rectify, erase and restrict the processing of your data, and to data portability. You can exercise them directly from the app or by writing to oneblackheartraven@gmail.com. You may also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali).

7. Minors

The app is not intended for children under 14.

8. Changes

Any updates to this policy will be published on this page, along with the new “last updated” date.
